CHPC OUTAGE: All general environment cluster nodes - critical security update - Friday Aug 6, 2021 7:30am
Date Posted: July 30, 2021
There is a critical security update for all Linux machines that will require a reboot. On Friday August 6, 2021, starting at 7:30am, we will apply the necessary updates to the general environment cluster nodes. As this is a security concern, we are not providing our standard two week notice for the downtime.
CHPC staff will be applying the update to all nodes, both interactive and compute, on the general environment clusters of notchpeak, kingspeak, lonepeak and ash. Clusters will be returned to service as the work is completed. We anticipate that the clusters will be available for use mid to late afternoon.
There is a reservation in place to drain the slurm batch queues of running jobs by the start of the downtime. Any job that will not be able to complete before the start of the downtime will wait in the queue until after the work is completed
