"content_html": "
AI agents are increasingly being used for software development and research project management. We are developing a set of guidelines to safeguard our multi-user systems. While we are developing these guidelines, we are asking users to follow these basic principles:
\n \n
\n
Third-party AI assistants and agents are only allowed in the General Environment. No external AI tools are allowed in the Protected Environment or other systems with sensitive data. We are working on providing localized AI tools in both the GE and the PE in the near future.
\n
Any autonomous agents, such as OpenClaw, are prohibited on all CHPC systems.
\n
Currently, only the following third-party agents installed by CHPC are allowed: Claude, Codex, and OpenCode. These should be used through our environment modules on the Linux clusters. If you have installed your own tools such as Claude TUI, please start using the CHPC-installed modules, which are configured with additional safeguards, instead. See the CHPC's documentation on agents for information on how to use these tools.
\n
Likewise, any other third-party tools like MCP servers, external skills with execution capabilities, and subagents need to be approved by the CHPC.
\n
Do not allow AI agents to run commands without your explicit approval. Be observant of what commands agents run, and don't approve commands that are potentially destructive, could access data owned by other users, or could otherwise harm the integrity of systems or data.
\n
\n \n
Please note that the University of Utah lists approved external AI tools at ai.utah.edu/tools. University of Utah Health has further guidance on its SharePoint site. "content_html": "
We have migrated legacy systems for user and group management to the CHPC Portal, portal.chpc.utah.edu. This change does not affect existing CHPC user accounts or their access to CHPC resources; however, there are some changes to account and project applications and processes.
\n
Changes to forms for accounts and projects
\n
Some forms and processes have changed.
\n
Adding new users to a group
\n
Adding a new user to an existing group is newly initiated by the PI. A PI can create an invitation for a new user at portal.chpc.utah.edu/invite. The invitee receives an email with a unique code, which allows them to fill in and submit a CHPC account application form. The account will be provisioned right away, since the PI invitation code serves as a PI confirmation.
\n
Creating new groups (Needs Assessments)
\n
For PIs who are new to the CHPC, the account application is available at portal.chpc.utah.edu/resources/add-group. After logging in with the University of Utah credentials and clicking the \"Become a CHPC PI\" button, the applicant needs to fill in and submit a Needs Assessment form. CHPC staff will review the application and create the PI account and resource group. An email notification with basic instructions will be sent when the account is created.
\n
The Needs Assessment form on the CHPC Portal is also used for new Protected Environment projects. The form is available at portal.chpc.utah.edu/resources/new-group/needs-assessment. The review process for projects in the Protected Environment has not changed.
\n
The new account process is documented on the Accounts page on the CHPC documentation. All features described above are also accessible on the CHPC Portal homepage in the form of the green \"Add group,\" \"Invite users,\" and \"Request resources\" buttons.
\n
Group management and user removal
\n
With the migration of CHPC user and group management to Portal comes a suite of handy new features, including the ability to manage group membership. We ask PIs to go to their profile on the CHPC Portal, select the red button that corresponds to the group to manage, and select \"Manage and invite members\" to see a list of group members. To remove an old member, click the \"Edit\" button to the right of the name and choose \"Remove from group.\"
\n
Removing a user from a group will start the CHPC's standard account deprovisioning process. The account is locked for a month; afterward, it will be removed by CHPC staff. If it is necessary to preserve data from a removed user and the permissions do not allow you to copy files, please contact helpdesk@chpc.utah.edu for assistance.
\n
If you have any questions or concerns about the accessibility or navigability of the CHPC Portal, please send feedback to helpdesk@chpc.utah.edu. We intend to respond rapidly to this feedback during the rollout of these new features.
",

The tool's goal is to find and list GPUs that are available at a given moment. The tool will list the best GPU candidates along with a description of why it picked them. It reasons based on GPU availability, capability, and queue demand. By default, it considers general, owner, and guest GPUs. The option \"--guest\" only considers the guest GPUs, which also accounts for owner usage, suggesting GPUs which have less owner usage first to help reduce preemption chances. Run \"gpu-recommener --help\" to see all of the tool's options.
