Announcing the Upcoming Retirement of Julia Harrison
Julia Harrison will retire in early 2025.
After nearly four decades of dedicated service at the University of Utah, Julia Harrison is retiring as the Operations Director of the Center for High Performance Computing. Julia's remarkable journey began in 1984 as an accountant, and shortly after completing her BS degree, joined the newly minted Utah Supercomputing Institute (prior name of CHPC) as a Computer Professional, where she honed her expertise over 24 years before becoming the Associate Director of the Center for High Performance Computing from 2000 until October 2022. In 1991–1992, Julia worked for the Cornell National Supercomputing Facility in Ithaca, New York as Technical Services Manager.
A proud alumna of the University of Utah, Julia earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1987 and later completed her Executive Master of Business Administration at the David Eccles School of Business from 2009 to 2011. Throughout her career, she garnered numerous endorsements for her skills in High Performance Computing, and Linux, among others, solidifying her reputation as a leader in the field.
Julia's contributions to the university and her field have been significant, inspiring colleagues and students alike. As she embarks on this new chapter, she leaves behind a legacy of excellence and innovation at the University of Utah.
Julia is looking forward to dedicating more time to her personal hobbies and exploring new travel destinations. She is especially excited to be able to spend more time with her grandchildren and enjoy more family time.
