Introduction to I/O at CHPC
In this talk we will go over file storage solutions available at CHPC, their best use and then talk about efficient ways to access, read and write to these. Then we will talk about different ways to read/write files in programs, starting with plain text and binary I/O, followed by I/O libraries such as NetCDF or HDF, and then discuss compression of binary files for both faster performance and smaller file size. We will conclude with overview of parallel I/O utilizing the Message Passing Interface (MPI).
